How to set it up

SlidesGPT is available in the Claude connector directory — just browse, search, and connect.

  1. Open Claude.ai in a browser.
  2. Go to Settings → Connectors → Browse connectors.
  3. Search for SlidesGPT in the directory.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Return to a new chat — the Create Slides and Apply Theme tools are now available.

Decks you generate are saved on slidesgpt.com under a shareable URL but are not tied to an account.

Prefer to add it as a custom connector?

You can also add SlidesGPT manually using its MCP URL — useful if you want to point at a staging build, an internal mirror, or just prefer the manual flow.

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the URL https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcp.
  3. (Optional) name it “SlidesGPT.”
  4. Save — the tools will appear in your next chat.

Available tools

The connector exposes two tools. Both are non-destructive and operate only on the presentation you're working with.

create_slides

— Create Slides

What it does. Generates a complete presentation deck from a topic or outline. Picks layouts that fit the content (image slides, timelines, SWOT grids, KPI rings, phase roadmaps, and more), drops in stock photos that match each slide's caption, and returns an interactive carousel inside the Claude chat with a Download as PowerPoint button.

Key inputs. Topic or outline, optional slide count, optional theme, optional presentation_id to add slides to an existing deck.

What you'll see in chat. A carousel widget with all slides, a layout switcher per slide, an inline theme picker, and a PPTX download link.

Pass the presentation_id from a previous response to add or replace slides in the same deck; otherwise a brand-new presentation is created.

apply_theme

— Apply Theme

What it does. Re-renders every slide in an existing presentation under a new visual theme. Content is preserved; only typography, colors, and background style change.

Key inputs. The presentation_id of the deck to re-style and the theme_id you want.

What you'll see in chat. The same carousel widget, refreshed with the new theme applied to every slide.

Available themes (18 total):
  • Urban — copenhagen, tokyo, paris, berlin, new-york, la, zurich, shanghai (each in light and dark)
  • Gradient — cosmic-pulse (light and dark)
Sample prompts:
  • “Apply the Tokyo Dark theme to the deck we just made.”
  • “Try Cosmic Pulse Light on this presentation.”
  • “Switch to a more corporate look — use Zurich Light.”

Requires an existing deck. If you don't have a presentation_id yet, ask Claude to create the deck first, then ask for a theme change.

Privacy & data handling

The connector is anonymous and stateless — no account, no OAuth, no per-user data. Slide topics you ask for are forwarded to slidesgpt.com to render the deck. We collect anonymous telemetry only (tool name, duration, slide metadata such as layout and theme), never the conversation content. Generated decks are retained on slidesgpt.com per the site's retention policy so you can share or re-download them later.
